Here’s Why It Is So Challenging to Work With These Stars

Take anyone and tell them they're special and they won't only believe it; they'll start acting like it as well. Actors are told that constantly and they also have the money to satisfy any crazy desire they have. Combine that with substance abuse or mental health issues, and you get a toxic mix that produces some of the worst people anyone could work with. From having an actor almost void a film's insurance to abusing alcohol while on the clock, fighting their co-stars and refusing to work, the outrageous behaviors of the following actors will make you re-evaluate what makes a bad co-worker!

Bruce Willis - You Don't Speak To Bruce Or Give Him Directions

Bruce Willis is a huge star but that shouldn't excuse bad behavior. The rumors surrounding him sound like a horror story for any director. He is supposed to be very unapproachable, unwilling to take orders from directors, and appears indifferent to most movies in general. We guess having a net worth of $180 million and having acted in some of the most successful films of all time, Bruce is not very concerned that his bad behavior will endanger his retirement planning. Besides, his investments in real estate and business allow him to be even more annoying if he chooses so.

Shannen Doherty - Fights Got Her Kicked Out Of 2 Series

Shannen Doherty has had a bad reputation following her since the days of Beverly Hills, 90210. Though pretty and a talented actress, she was fired from the show after years of getting into fights, being late for work, halting production because of her arrest, and general rudeness (some would say honesty). Then again on Charmed, she would constantly get into fights with her co-stars, until she was fired once more. As she grew older, though, she mellowed out and learned the secrets of diplomacy. When she revealed she was diagnosed with breast cancer, nothing but sympathy came her way.

Chevy Chase - Drugs & Alcohol Make Him Racist & Rude

Chevy Chase has been hailed as a great comedian of our time but he is also known to be a terrible person to work with. Not only does he hold the dubious honor of being the only Saturday Night Live cast member who has been banned from the show, but he also managed to get himself removed from the sitcom Community, despite starting off as a basic cast member. Rude comments, racial slurs, and public arguments with the show-runner, Dan Harmon, made sure he was let go from the series. Perhaps part of his behavior can be excused if we take into account his issues with cocaine, prescription painkillers, and as recently as 2016, alcohol abuse.

Lindsay Lohan - Acting Like A Child On Drugs

Few child actors have grown up to be well-adjusted adults and one of the most iconic train-wrecks is Lindsay Lohan. Her partying, drug addiction and alcohol abuse almost ended her career as companies refused to insure her and she lashed out to her co-stars while intoxicated. Even while filming The Canyons, a film made after her “reformation” at a rehab center, she would disappear for hours, arrive late for work. and refuse to cooperate when she disagreed with the director. Apparently, the latter had to use a mix of threats, coaxing, and patience to get her where he wanted her. James Deen, the male protagonist of the film said that she acted like a child lashing out, though he praised her skill as an actress.

Lea Michele - Kept Everyone Waiting For Her

Rumors about Lea Michele exhibiting behavior worthy of the term “diva” started surfacing while she was working on Glee. Accounts vary as she has both detractors and defenders. Some say she was stand-offish and distant, while others call her professional and reserved. Her co-star, Naya Rivera has slammed her in a recent book, claiming she kept the crew and cast waiting while she dealt with personal stuff, snapped her fingers to indicate they should hurry, and generally acted like she was better than everybody else. Lea, on the other hand, has denied all such rumors but does not seem ready to call a defamation lawyer just yet.

Jennifer Lopez - "Jenny From The Block" Has More Demands Than Queen Elizabeth

Jennifer Lopez may like to present the image she is “Jenny from the block,” but the rumors about her crazy demands remind us more of royalty. Apparently, she asks for everything - from specific flowers in her dressing room to a 45-foot trailer with an all-white interior just to shoot a 9-second clip for an AIDS charity! We understand that she feels she deserves the best, but when throughout her career she has projected a girl-next-door vibe with a tough upbringing, these demands make her look like a hypocrite. And it's not like the expenses come out of her checking account, in which case it would be a “her money, her problem” situation.

Mike Myers - Such A Perfectionist That He Costs Studios Extra Money

It is said in Hollywood circles that the only reason actor Mike Myers still has work opportunities is he is talented and is making money for the studios. Otherwise, no one would want to work with such a controlling, egotistical, and capricious person. Even with his ability to generate income for the production companies, his luck may run out. While filming Shrek, he switched to a Scottish accent in the middle of production, which cost the studio about $5 million! Universal sicced their lawyers on him after he backed out from a contract because he didn't feel the script was good enough. Don't think that his antics will lead to bankruptcy though, as Mike has a net worth of $175 million!

Jennifer Grey - Enough Mood Swings To Last A Lifetime

Dirty Dancing was a film made with a microbudget that became a hit through word of mouth and for some, is one of the best movies ever made. It was also Patrick Swayze's breakthrough and theoretically Jennifer Grey's as well. In a bizarre turn of events, Jennifer used the money from her role to have a nose job which made her less “different” than the countless other actresses and more or less ended her career. Years later, in his autobiography, Patrick revealed that Jennifer was a bit of a problem to work with. She had strange mood swings - one moment she was laughing so much she ruined the scene and the next she would burst into tears with the slightest criticism as if afflicted by manic depression.

Jennifer Aniston - She Keeps Her Distance From The Plebes i.e., Everyone Else

Jennifer Aniston has had a reputation for being a diva since Friends, a series so popular that put millions in her bank account and made her a huge celebrity. So, it's not exactly surprising to hear that her snobbish behavior has not changed. Allegedly, while filming Life Of Crime, she stood apart from everyone else, metaphorically and literally. Her trailer was miles away from the others, she ate alone and did not hang out with the rest of the cast and crew. On another occasion, she demanded a vehicle full of SmartWater bottles as she drunk nothing else, a company she incidentally has made an investment in.

Madonna - Not Even Her Entourage Of 200 Is Safe From Her Temper

If Madonna, one of the biggest celebrities in the world of pop music, didn't have a reputation for being a diva, who would? Even before becoming a star with a net worth of $580 million, she would scream and rage at the crew of her video clips for every perceived mistake. As an actress, she didn't listen to her directors and on her tours, she has a 200-person entourage that includes a chef so she doesn't get off her diet plan. Reportedly, she also carries with her a yoga instructor for her workouts and an acupuncturist. Finally, sources have said that the Queen of Pop also brings her own furniture wherever she goes because having everything exactly as she wants it is a form of anxiety treatment for her.

Charlie Sheen - Drugs Have Taken Him On A Ride With The Crazy Train

Oh, Charlie Sheen, we could write books about your crazy antics! Most of his problems come from his love of drugs (mostly cocaine), but even that is just another part of his character. The hard-partying life, with tons of money spent on drugs, alcohol, and women meant he was often unable to work properly or acted in bizarre ways. His HIV diagnosis may have pushed him to act more extreme out of fear but as people didn't know that, it just seemed that he was self-destructing at an alarming rate. Until finally, he snapped so bad, looking like he had mental health issues on national TV, that he was fired from Two And A Half Men. Trying to work with a barely sane, drug-taking, alcohol-swilling Charlie Sheen is plain madness.

Julia Roberts - The Pretty Woman Who Terrified The Film Crew

Topping the list of best-paid actresses for years and with worldwide fame, we would expect a certain level of difficulty in working with Julia Roberts. The woman who starred in Pretty Woman and Notting Hill deserves some slack. But according to reports, Julia is not as nice as she seems. From being rude to critics to being a pain to the crew of Hook, there are many dark stories about her. While filming Hook, the crew were reportedly terrified of her and had given her the nickname “TinkerHell.” She denies it all and to be honest, there may have been extenuating factors for her behavior. At the time, she had called off a wedding and her mental health was not at its best.

Katherine Heigl - Being Ungracious Is A Career-Stopper In Hollywood

Katherine Heigl was the queen of romantic comedies for a short time and had a good run on Grey's Anatomy, but she kept making blunders until job offers started drying up. First up, she withdrew herself from an Emmy nomination for Grey's Anatomy, which many saw as a hit against the show-runner, Shonda Rhimes. Dissing a powerful producer is not a good move, especially when the move is seen as ungrateful. Then she did it again, bashing the pregnancy-themed rom-com Knocked Up that she starred in. As every movie is both a work of art and an investment, nobody wants to cast someone who is going to create negative publicity for a project.

Sharon Stone - Like Old Wine, She Has Gotten More Sour With Age

Sharon Stone became a huge celebrity almost overnight, with the unforgettable scene from Basic Instinct. As the years passed, her glory faded a bit but her belief that she was a goddess apparently never diminished. In 2014, her demands nearly drove the director of A Golden Boy insane and she almost gave the producer a heart attack, when she went shopping with his credit card and walked into the famous Bulgari jewelry store. Even as late as 2016, when she got an invitation to a party by jewelry brand de Grisogono, she asked for $300K, eight hotel rooms, and a private jet! For comparison, Kim Kardashian attended for a pair of diamond earrings.

Mischa Barton - Mental Health Issues, Drugs, & Snobbery

Mischa Barton got her reputation of being difficult to work with from her time on The O.C. Back then, she was one of the most sought-after stars but also, unfortunately, she was facing serious issues with alcohol abuse and drug addiction. She was also hanging out with the wrong crowd, partying with Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie. The result was her forgetting her lines, being late for work, and acting bizarrely - something which did not endear her to the rest of the cast. By 2010, she had already been held at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for some time, involuntarily. The year 2016 and Dancing With The Stars gave rise to a new wave of accusations of rudeness and snobbery.

Alec Baldwin - He Desperately Needs Anger Management Therapy

Alec Baldwin has had a number of public melt-downs that include insulting baristas, getting kicked off a flight, and attacking a photographer. His defense attorney must dread every public appearance the actor makes! He's not better on set, either. Despite being a great actor, inside sources have claimed that he shouts, he's constantly in a sour mood, barely puts in the hours, and complains about the strangest of things - like claiming the air on the set of 30 Rock was “too dry” and he needed a humidifier. It seems the actor needs some anger management or therapy before he does something even worse.

Teri Hatcher - Too Entitled & Arrogant Even For Showbiz

When Desperate Housewives came to an end, the crew received a gift by the heroines, signed by all of them... except Teri Hatcher. It is rumored that her co-stars couldn't stand her and Nicollette Sheridan said she was the meanest woman on earth. Apparently, Teri kept herself distant from the other actresses and crew, demanded that the stylist and makeup artist go to her instead of her going to the appropriate area, and snubbed the catering service. She also had runners bring her food and wine from upscale restaurants. It is also rumored that when, after her spot on Jay Leno was taken by President Obama, she demanded they compensate her with a Louis Vuitton bag!

Beyoncé Knowles - Queen Bee Acts Like A Real Queen

Beyoncé is a wildly popular singer and married to an extremely successful rapper and producer. The couple is living in fabulous mansions, taking cruises aboard their private yacht, and has a combined net worth of $1.1 billion. Keeping that in mind, it is surprising she does not demand gold-plated napkins and toilet seats studded with diamonds. All she asks are basic considerations, like 100% cotton clothes for her crew (possibly for allergies?) or new toilet seats in bathrooms stocked with red toilet paper... Wait, what? She has also asked for alkaline water at exactly 21 degrees and titanium straws to drink from, which cost a measly $900.

Steven Seagal - He Thinks He's God's Gift On Earth

Steven Seagal used to be a huge name in action films, until his weight gain, arrogance, and abrasive behavior slowly faded his star. He's even had to rely on his defense attorney to defend him from accusations of abuse, groping, and harassment. His tenure as host of Saturday Night Live was very contentious, with many cast members wanting him gone. He would be aggressive towards cast and writers and pitch sketch ideas that bordered on the offensive. He has also been accused of bullying other actors and directors who did not share his belief that he is one of the greatest writers, martial artists, and lovers in the world.

Christian Bale - Perfectionist, Dedicated Or Plain Rude?

Christian Bale is widely known as an actor who takes his job very seriously. From his dangerous weight loss for The Machinist to his weight gain for American Hustle, he is ready to do what it takes to make a good film. But perfectionism comes with a dark side as well. There is such a thing as too focused and Christian exemplified this all too well while filming Terminator: Salvation. When a director of photography did something to annoy him, he exploded, going on an expletive-filled rant and threatening the poor man that he'd get him fired if he messed up again. Come on Christian, the man could be loaded with debt and near bankruptcy, don't mess with his job.

Shia LaBeouf - So Dedicated That He Terrified His Co-Stars

Though Shia LaBeouf has had a few episodes that made people worry about his mental health, rumors that he was hard to work with are not new. Wanting to gain respect as an artist and not just a popular actor of dumb action films, he tries to really get deep into the role he portrays, which is good for the movie but not always for his director and co-stars. During the production of Lawless, Mia Wasikowska was reportedly terrified of him and he frequently drunk moonshine – a terrible decision even with a really good health insurance! Also, his habit of getting into trouble is worrisome as an arrest can throw a wrench in the gears of every movie.

Val Kilmer - Belligerent, Late & Rude To Crew Members

When Val Kilmer first appeared on the silver screen, he was to be a huge star like Tom Cruise, with whom he appeared in Top Gun. But a combination of bad luck, bad film choices, and a terrible, terrible reputation held him back. He would act oddly, be late for work, clash with directors, rage when the changes he wanted were not implemented in the script and fought with those he disagreed with. Even more damning, he was rude and disrespectful to those he considered beneath him, like makeup artists, stylists, cameramen, etc. The result was that Val, while still making money and having a good life, never got to the heights people thought he would reach.

Wesley Snipes - Lots Of Drugs & Too Bored To Act

Wesley Snipes has been away from the world of film lately, which might have to do with his conviction and 3-year jail sentence for income tax evasion. It might also have to do with his notoriously bad behavior on set, particularly while filming Blade: Trinity. He was rude to his co-stars, told the director to quit, and did not act for the most part as he only left his trailer for close-up shots. It has also been reported that he spent most of the time high as a kite, as he smoked marijuana almost constantly. We hope he's decided to take the straight and narrow or at least, hire a better defense attorney.

Isaiah Washington - Dropped Slurs Against His Co-Star

Isaiah Washington had been a staple of Grey's Anatomy for quite some time without any reports that he was a difficult co-worker for anyone. But in 2007, he and Patrick Dempsey got into a huge fight, which some say escalated to the physical level. Nevertheless, during the fight, Isaiah referred to another actor, T. R. Knight and used a homophobic slur against him. When it became public knowledge, it was the beginning of the end for his tenure on the show. His character, cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Preston Burke, was written out of the series and Isaiah had to go on full apology mode to save his career.

Ashlee Simpson - Arrogant & Can't Act To Save Her Life

Pop singer Ashlee Simpson was picked as part of the 2009 Melrose Place series, perhaps to add a dash of extra star value to the show. Unfortunately, one thing pop singers are not known for is their ability as actors. Ashlee's performance was panned by critics and not only. Her co-stars were also annoyed by her lack of talent as it hampered the entire production. As if that wasn't enough, she was frequently late, was arrogant and demanding, and had very strained relationships with the other cast members. She was fired, both for these reasons and to trim the budget so that they could afford to hire Heather Locklear.

Gwyneth Paltrow - Uptight, Snobbish, Pretentious & Cold

Gwyneth Paltrow is a strange case. She has been voted “the most hated celebrity,” is seen as arrogant, cold, and pretentious, and also been accused of having an affair with a billionaire while married. Still, it doesn't seem to have affected her career all that much and the actress' bank account gets regular doses of fresh money. It is said that while filming Iron Man 2, she was cold to the rest of the cast and downright avoided Scarlett Johansson. Reportedly, she has a list of demands on her list - like requiring someone to fully dry the shower,  and that they stock her favorite brand of water.  Well, these did not help her image all that much.
