On the surface, being a celebrity seems like the perfect lifestyle. As with anything good, there is usually a sprinkling of bad to go along with it. Putting aside the drug and alcohol addictions which usually seem to worm their way into the lives of celebrities, and even dismissing the different types of lawyers they need to keep everything in order, one of the most unwanted side-effects of fame is dirty secrets.

Ricky Martin - Indecently Assaulted

Ricky Martin is a Spanish singer who has gained world-renowned status. Breaking records with his hit song 'Livin' La Vida Loca' which went on to sell over 8 million copies and catapulted Martin into the limelight. He followed this up with his first English album which surpassed all expectations with over 22 million sales. However, there is a darkness to his success. When he was just 12 years old he started out in a boy band called Menudo. Members of the band have released statements saying how Jose Menendez, who was behind the success of Menudo, indecently assaulted several of the members. To take things further, Jose Menendez's two sons not only admitted they have been violated for most of their lives, but they went on to murder their father and his wife. We're not sure, but we don't think they'd have received anything from his last will and testament.

Jack Nicholson – His Sister Was Actually His Mother. Wait What?

Movie star Jack Nicholson has been in a few strange movies with dark motives behind them. However when he was 37-years-old he made a rather dark and strange discovery of his own. It's the kind of plot twist that we'd likely see in a Christopher Nolan movie. It turns out that Jacks sister June, who was 17-years older than him, was actually his mother. Now if you're confused too, join the club. She died when he was only 9-years-old. To help you understand that mind-boggling fact, his mother June gave birth to him when she was only 18. Due to not knowing or being with the father, June's parents decided to raise Jack as their own, leaving June to be portrayed as his sister. His other sister, Lorraine, was actually his aunt. It's no wonder Jack keeps playing crazy people and anti-heroes with such a confusing upbringing.

Matthew Broderick – Hit, Run, And Death

Actor Matthew Broderick is rich, famous and voiced the older 'Simba' in the Disney classic The Lion King. He's also the man who plays Ferris Bueller in Ferris Bueller's Day Off and is married to fellow actress Sarah Jessica Parker. They tied the knot in 1999 and have been happily married ever since. It's hard to imagine this family man to have any dark secrets, but in 1987 he began driving in the wrong lane and crashed into another vehicle. The two victims of the crash, a mother and daughter, died instantly. Broderick must have had to pay quite the lawyer fee as his sentence got whittled down to a fine of $175. He also claims that he has absolutely no recollection of the entire day of the crash at all. Sure Broderick...sure...

Tim Allen – Cocaine Smuggling Santa Clause?

You might recognize Tim Allen from his starring roles in Home Improvement and family-hit Santa Clause. You'd be forgiven for thinking he's a charming guy with no skeletons in his closest but the truth is he's dealt with all types of lawyers to cover up his mistakes. Before he hit the big-time as an actor, Tim Allen was arrested in the 1970s for attempting to smuggle almost a pound and a half of cocaine. With life imprisonment looming over him, he gave up the names of the other dealers and in return got sentenced to three to seven years. He served less than two and a half! He was in trouble with the law again though when he was caught driving under the influence in 1997. His punishment was one-year probation and he had to attend alcohol rehab. Well, we're certainly glad he isn't Santa Clause anymore...

Shelley Malil – Psychotic Knife Whisperer

Shelley Malil was an up-and-coming actor who starred in The 40-Year-Old Virgin - and was even listed as one of the 10 most overlooked performances of 2005. In 2008 though the comedic actor decided to have a change in lifestyle. He is now in jail on a life sentence after stabbing his ex-girlfriend 20 times, leaving her with two collapsed lungs and the loss of half of the blood in her body. He was caught the next day. She survived the attack and Malil was charged with attempted murder. We're not sure if he actually consulted any crime lawyers before going to court as his response to the allegations was 'Not Guilty' and then proceeded to repeatedly state that it 'was the knife that did it'. Yes Shelley, you had no role in the numerous stabbings to your ex-girlfriend. It was the knife all along. If only we believed that, you could be a free man!

Scott Hall – Murder, Drug Abuse & Alcohol Addiction

Scott Hall was a professional wrestler before he retired - more than likely due to the vast array of health problems he is trying to recover from. Before he became a rich and famous wrestling star though, Hall spent some time as a bouncer. It was during this time that he had an altercation with a man which resulted in Hall 'wrestling' the man's gun away from him before using it to kill him. The initial charges of second-degree murder were ultimately dropped due to a lack of evidence and his testimony of self-defense. It doesn't stop there though will Hall having a big alcohol dependency and drug addiction. He is also rumored to have got rather drunk and then choke a man, along with having charged at Jimmy Graham after an insensitive joke involving deceased wrestler Owen Hart. Hopefully, Scott is on the mend though after spending many years in and out of the hospital.

Bill O’Reilly – Very Creepy Indecent Misconduct

Bill O'Reilly is the kind of host that could be classed as 'irksome'. Recent revelations also reveal him to be quite the creep too. After a long-standing career as a TV host for Fox News, he was fired for several claims of indecent misconduct. One case involved a former secretary who Bill would call up and then proceed to...enjoy himself as he forced her to listen. She sued and with the help of several types of lawyer he covered up the incident and paid her an alleged settlement of $1.6 million. It's rumored that Bill had over five claims of indecent harassment against him when Fox decided to fire him. We're sure despite alleged settlements reaching heights of up to $32 million, he still has a rather healthy trust fund to keep him afloat. 

Christopher Lee – Witnessed Three Failed Guillotine Attempts!

Legendary British actor Christopher Lee lived a rather incredible life until his 93rd birthday, where respiratory problems and heart failure took his life. His secret isn't necessarily bad for him personally, although we imagine it was quite hard to stomach. At just 17-years-old Lee was in attendance for the public execution of murderer Eugen Weidmann. Weidmann, who paid Vincent de Moro-Giafferi quite the lawyer's fee, was sentenced to death after a killing spree that spun several years. His execution led to the banning of public executions after the guillotine failed 3 times! Now the guillotine is designed to be quick and painless to the victim, only for Weidmann it didn't kill him on the first attempt...or the second...; in fact, it was with the fourth go that Weidmann was successfully executed.

Woody Harrelson - Raised By A Hitman

Woody Harrelson is an esteemed actor with a diverse range of skills, recognized by his many award nominations. His life could have been very different though had he followed in his father's footsteps. Charles Harrelson, Woody's father, left his family in 1968 - when Woody was just seven years old - and disappeared until 1981. The reason behind his sudden disappearance is because Charles was a professional hitman who was eventually tried and found guilty of the first-degree murder of a judge in the 20th century. Even the best crime lawyers in the world couldn't get him out of that situation.

Laura Bush - Supported George Bush & Killed a Man

We're not sure which crime to mention here so we thought we'd go for both. The first one, however, isn't much of a secret. Former First-Lady Laura Bush was not only a fan of George W. Bush (if that was not obvious from her marriage to him) but she also holds a much darker secret in her heart. We're sure she paid the highest lawyer salary to cover the incident up, which involved her running a stop sign when we was 17-years-old. She was driving, ignored the sign to stop and ultimately crashed into another car, killing the driver, who turned out to be her friend from school. Nobody was charged for the accident.

Charlize Theron - Her Mother Murdered Her Abusive Father

We have a lot of time for beautiful actress Charlize Theron. Her acting skills are unquestionable, with the ability to diversify her onscreen performances to just about anything. She is highly respected and has quite the fortune now - she could easily afford a drug addiction if she wanted, although we're glad shes not interested in that kind of lifestyle! Her life hasn't always been lavish and enjoyable though. As a child she had to endure daily abuse and assault from her alcoholic father. Eventually her mother had enough and in self-defense ended up killing him. It's sad to think there are such horrid people in the world, although we applaud the strength and courage Charlize and her mother have shown ever since.

Ted Kennedy - Inadvertently Killed His Pregnant Mistress

If you're a powerful politician who can afford to pay the highest lawyer salary around then you can pretty much get away with murder. Well the chilling tale of U.S Senator Ted Kennedy resembles that quite fittingly. In 1969 he was driving a car with Mary Jo Kopechne. She was pregnant and rumored to be a lover of Kennedy's. Ted accidentally drove off of a bridge and his vehicle ended up in a tidal canal. Luckily for Ted he managed to get free of the car and swim to safety, not taking into consideration his pregnant passenger at all. He then left the scene, maybe went for some food or perhaps just changed clothes into something dry, who knows. After a whopping NINE hours, he decided to report the incident. His car was found, along with the cold, dead body of Kopechne who died in the vehicle. If only Ted had thought about someone other than himself, she could have survived.

R. Kelly - Indecent Abuse of Underage Females

Pop star R. Kelly has been close to bankruptcy on several occasions following payouts to multiple families. R.Kelly has allegedly picked up numerous girls aged between 12 and 15, usually from low-income areas, and then proceeds to violate them. He has been in court several times for allegations of indecent assault although the result is normally out-of-court settlements. The same applies here. Any families that go to the police end up with a high money payout from the star. At this rate he won't be able to afford his lawyer's salary. We really, really hope there's no truth to these allegations but in the meantime, we think it's best to just stop listening to anything R. Kelly has released.

Jay Z - Shot His Own Brother

Jay-Z is a music mogul. He has more wealth than most can even imagine and is married to the global icon Beyonce. What could his secret possibly be? That he cheated on his wife? Well that's not really a secret any more (although if you didn't know, Jay-Z has admitted to cheating on Beyonce) but the real secret is how he shot his brother. They say family should always come first, so when Jay-Z's brother (who suffered from a drug addiction) stole his ring - well Jay-Z did the only rational thing a person could do (NOT!). He pulled out a gun and shot him. To make it worse, Jay-Z was only 12 years old during the incident. Luckily his brother survived and didn't press charges against him.

Mark Wahlberg - Incredibly Racist & Unapologetically Violent

Actor Mark Wahlberg has made quite the name for himself, starring in blockbuster movies like 'The Departed', 'Ted' and 'Transformers'. He seems rather charming in interviews and as a regular in comedy movies, anyone would think he is genuinely laid-back and a fan of laughter and fun. Turns out that Wahlberg has a dark secret. He's assembled a team of different types of lawyers to try and get an assault charge from 1988 removed from his record. Along with reports that he racially abused black kids from his neighborhood, when he was sixteen years-old he randomly assaulted a Vietnamese man before fleeing the scene and finding another. In 1992 he also assaulted a security guard so badly that his jaw had to be wired shut. He received a nice juicy settlement for his troubles.

Megan Fox is a Hollywood star. She's proven herself as a comedic actor thanks to shows like New Girl and the movie This Is 40 and to top it all off she's absolutely stunning. However before everyone starts dreaming about a life with Megan Fox, you should know she's got a pretty dirty secret. She refuses to, or just chooses not to, flush the toilet. Yeah no big drug addiction or secret lifestyle where she dresses as a frog and hops around the garden, she is just very messy. Fox is very open about it too. Now we all know Ryan Gosling is a heartthrob. His chiseled face and acting prowess never fail to draw in the fans. We also all know that getting any kind of waxing done is painful and getting one done on your chest on a monthly basis is basically a light form of torture. Well, Ryan Gosling surely doesn't seem to mind. He has a couple of strange habits that we're going to make public. The first of which is that he opts to get his chest waxed, not once, but a couple of times a month. After starring with Steve Carell in Crazy, Stupid, Love we'd have thought he'd have been talked out of it (Carell had his body genuinely waxed in real-time in the comedy hit 40-Year-Old Virgin). Allegedly Gosling also walks up the stairs on all fours (can this be true?). Well, the handsome hunk can get away with it, what with his bulging bank account and dashing good looks. Still, his weird habits are certainly better than alcohol addiction.

Leighton Meester is a beautiful actress who launched to fame in the TV show Gossip Girl. Well the stunner might be living the high-life now but she hasn't always had the luxury of freedom. Her secret involves her mother, who probably couldn't afford any real type of lawyer to help with her case. Her mother, along with a string of other relatives, were caught trying to smuggle in over 450 kg of marijuana into the United States. Over 450 KILOGRAMS! That's an insane amount. Coco Chanel was at one point one of the richest women in the world. She was also a manipulative and deceptive woman who used the guise of World War II to try and receive money at the expense of the Wertheimer brothers. They owned 70% of 'Parfums Chanel' with Coco owning 10% for licensing her name. Well during the war, knowing that the Wertheimer brothers were Jewish, she wrote to the government requesting full control of the business due to it being 'abandoned' by the owners. She didn't expect the brothers to foresee this though, and they'd already relinquished control to someone else. She was also romantically involved with some German military men during the war and gave clear statements about her views when she closed her shops - apparently in response to her labor force, who were primarily Jewish, requesting fair wages and going on strike. Still, she is loved by the French (who probably don't know her dark past).

Paris Hilton - Kleptomaniac

Paris Hilton; the woman who got famous from a home movie that "randomly" appeared online and granted her almost instant stardom. Well, what you might not know about the 36-year-old is that she allegedly used to be quite the thief. According to one of her former bodyguards, Hilton used to rummage through peoples jackets before leaving a party, sometimes just taking the contents and sometimes taking the jacket too. Along with that she'd steal jewelry, shoes and anything else her sticky hands could find. It got a lot harder for her to do though once she became well-known. The official statement is that it's completely untrue. Sure, Paris, sure. In other news, she also got into trouble with the law due to her alcohol addiction, driving under the influence, refusing alcohol addiction treatment, driving with a suspended license. She's a real diamond this one...

Sean Penn - Indecently Assaulted & Attacked Madonna

Now the story of actor Sean Penn and his ex Madonna has some holes in it - most notably Madonna recently claiming that any reports of his crimes are false and reckless. However, for the last three decades, not a word was said about his alleged abuse. The story goes that Sean Penn physically assaulted Madonna before proceeding to tie her to a chair. He then left her to go to the shop and resupply his alcohol (we think might have had a bit of an alcohol addiction) before returning and refusing to untie her. We'll likely never know the truth although Penn could easily afford a very high lawyer salary to ensure any stories were covered up and hidden from the world.

Jessica Simpson - Steals Meals From Restaurants

Jessica Simpson has tested the waters of several careers. One minute she's a singer, the next she's an actress, or a business woman or a dancer. Now nobody really knows what is it she's pursuing. According to a personal assistant who used to work for Simpson, she would sometimes refuse to pay for meals at restaurants. Apparently she would claim that her presence alone would be more than enough due to the publicity it would provide to the establishment - and therefore has no obligation to pay. We don't know about you, but that just sounds like Jessica got a little bit too big for her boots. It was also revealed mid-2017 that she is allegedly suffering from drug and alcohol addiction, something that is seriously affecting her well-being.

Sharon Stone - Paid Her Way to a Golden Globe

Actress Sharon Stone was once accused of trying to buy her way into a Golden Globe nomination. She refuses claims and says it was just a misunderstanding. So what happened? Basically Stone received a nomination for her role in The Muse. The trouble was that all 82 members of the committee who decide on who to nominate received $395 watches. Every single one of them. Unfortunately for them they weren't allowed to keep the 'gifts' and were ordered by the head of the committee to return them on the grounds in could affect their integrity. She got nominated anyway and her 'generosity' was greatly appreciated. She probably consulted a team of different types of lawyers beforehand to make sure there were no legal issues.
